After implementing RDBMS-based software solutions in the infrastructure industry for nearly a decade, ev-i was faced with the demand for more flexible data structures to accommodate the life cycle of buildings and hydropower facilities. As a result, tm2jdbc, a Topic Maps API implementation in Java, was developed and released under an open-source license to foster the collaboration of academic and industrial partners on real-world Topic Map Applications.
