This book collects 24 papers from the First International Workshop on Topic Map Research and Applications, TMRA 2005, whcih was held in Leipzig, Germany on October 6-7 2005.

TMRA’05 – International Workshop on Topic Map Research and Applications – provided a forum for community building in the field of Topic Map research and applications. A main objective of TMRA’05 was to chart the landscape of Topic Map research. Together we wanted to identify the primary open issues, who is working on what, bring together researchers and application pioneers, stimulate the systematic tackling of such issues, and foster the exchange of ideas in a non-commercial and stimulating setting. Besides the scientific track, open-space sessions were foreseen as playgrounds for visionaries.

Topic Maps provides a proven means for data integration scaling to the
web, as well as a core technology for our highly flexible applications
with largely autogenerated frontend structures.
