Sven studied computer science, musicology and science theory at the University of Leipzig. While attending master courses, he began to work at the Topic Maps Lab in the summer of 2008. Sven did a keen part on developing the Topic Maps Lab Portal, is a part of the Maiana development team, and developed Beru – an enhanced semantic search engine for Topic Maps portals that is based on Apache Lucene.

In October 2010 he founded TML-Consulting, a company that offers consulting and development on semantic technologies for web portals and search appliances.

As a former information scientist, I am fascinated since 1999 by the capabilities for building Topic Maps-based knowledge systems having the potential to augment human mind. One can model arbitrary knowledge organization systems, deal with semantic heterogeneity, collocate all facts about one subject in one logical place, and with TMQL have semantic retrieval on federated semantic networks. Therefore I expect bright prospects for business concepts building on the exchange of such knowledge snippets via semantic knowledge services.
